Different anchor designs use different methods to penetrate the seabed.

Some designs depend more on weight, while others depend more on their shape.

For different anchors of the same design, heavier is usually better (for example, HydroBubble^® "Captain's Choice" anchors, with their weighted toe design, are heavier than the "Standard" HydroBubble^® anchors for similar sized boats).

When comparing different designs to each other, the weights will not compare directly.  Bulwagga, HydroBubble^®,  and the Manson Supreme are excellent recent designs that depend more on their shape and are therefore lighter for a given size of boat.
