The Manson Plow

Originally designed in 1933, Plow (plough) anchors have been proven all over the world providing the best holding in the widest variety of weather and seabed conditions. The plow's versatility and holding power in most circumstances will out perform all other types of anchors if set correctly.  Manson began manufacturing the plow anchor in 1972 and the Manson plow has now become Australasia's anchor of choice - synonymous with safe anchoring. It's built tough to withstand the rigors of the southern ocean, it's respected as the ideal all purpose anchor.

The Manson Plow is certified to Lloyds register of Shipping as a HHP (High Holding Power) anchor. This process involves design approval of the anchor drawings, extreme scrutinising of the manufacturing process and finally, seabed of the anchor in three different soil substrates.

The Manson Ray

Manson Ray anchor (stainless steel)Inspired by the Bruce Anchor originally designed in 1933 to anchor large oil rigs in the North Sea, the Manson Ray anchors are fabricated not cast to enable exact measurements and slight design modifications. Fabrication also enables a consistent quality of steel used in the manufacturing process.

The Ray anchor is a quick set anchor. It's ideal for use in sand, and mud. It usually sets in just the length of the anchor itself.

The most notable of the Manson Ray anchors were the world's largest Stainless Ray anchors (600kg & 400kg) placed on the world's largest sloop Mirabella V.

The Manson Supreme

There has been a revolution in anchoring technology.  The new premise is that shaping the anchor in a concave design and utilizing as much surface area as possible will provide a much higher holding power anchor. The concept proved a winning one and derivations on the theme have subsequently formed.

This anchor was designed to  be the highest holding - fastest setting - fixed shank anchor in the world. A surprise bonus design feature was that the anchor was developed with a dual operation shank to enable use in rock and coral seabed types.

The concave nature of the anchor is a relatively new concept. Both concave and convex flukes have their merits and there has traditionally been hesitancy to use a concave shape. This was initially due to their inability to self right. The addition of the roll bar has completely removed this drawback and now this shape is an accepted anchor design.

The Manson Supreme has been reviewed by Lloyds Register of Shipping and has received a SHHP status. The first and only production boat anchor in the world to do so.
